Just starting out? – Have a Go for $2
Capital BMX invites new riders to have a go at up to three club days for an entry fee of $2 per BMX race bike, and $2 for the hire of a full-face helmet and full-fingered gloves. No fancy gear needed – just a helmet, long sleeved top, long pants, shoes and socks, and gloves. Elbow and knee pads are recommended If you have them.
“Cover all skin” is a good motto, whether you’re riding with us on a club event, or just checking your skills on the track.
2018 Club Membership and BMX NZ Race Licences
Part-year Membership is now available from 1 June to 31 December 2018.
Note – Race membership requires a club membership and a BMX NZ licence. BMX NZ licence fees range from $25 to $70.
BMX NZ Licence Types
This licence is available to riders aged UCI 8 and over. A holder of a Club Licence may participate in Club and Interclub meetings only at the BMX NZ affiliated club where they are members, Capital BMX, and attend training provided by Capital BMX coaches. A Club Licence holder is unable to race at any events on the BMX NZ calendar. Upgrading from a Club to an Challenge Licence can be done at any time by application through Capital BMX. An upgrade cost is payable.
Kiwi Sprocket Rocket
A Kiwi Sprocket Rocket Licence is the only licence available for children aged UCI 7 and under. Sprocket riders can attend Club and Interclub meetings at Capital BMX and other clubs, attend skills based training programme by Capital BMX coaches AND are permitted to enter all BMX NZ sanctioned meetings. When a rider is eligible to ride UCI 8 years, they will apply for a Challenge or Club Licence as at 1 January.
This licence is available to riders for all Challenge 20” and Cruiser classes UCI 8 and over. A holder of a Challenge Licence may participate in Club and Interclub meetings at Capital BMX and other clubs, attend training provided by Capital BMX coaches AND is permitted to enter all BMX NZ sanctioned meetings.
UCI Age Classification:
The age class a rider is eligible to ride is determined by their age when calculated by deducting the year of birth from the current year. For example, if a rider was born in 2000, subtract from 2015 = 15, therefore the rider races in 15-year age group.
