Join Capital BMX

What your fee covers
Your membership is paid once a year and covers the calendar year from 1 January to 31 December.
It has two parts:
- the club portion stays with Capital BMX and helps us look after the track and run our club days
- the licence portion that goes to BMX NZ to help administer the sport as a whole.
In addition to club day racing, membership entitles you to join Capital BMX Thursday training. Strider and Sprocket memberships also include an official BMX NZ Race Plate to attach to the front of your bike.
Join from July and the club portion is halved. BMX NZ also lowers its Challenge and Championship licence fees for the second half of the year.
Not racing? Become an Associate
You don’t need a licence to support the club or to ride the track outside club hours.
Associate memberships come without the BMX NZ licence component, as annual subscriptions that help us look after the track and maintain it for everyone.
- Associate $20 a year
- Silver Associate $50 a year
- Gold Associate $100 a year
Prefer a one-off gift, or just want to signal support without a financial commitment? You will find a one-off donation and a free supporter sign-up on the same page.
Questions
Which licence should I choose?
Pick by age first: Strider for 4 and under (no pedals), Sprocket up to 7, and Island or Challenge from 8. If you want to race nationally and earn NQM points, choose Challenge. If you want to race regularly at club level and at other clubs on the North Island, Island will do, but you won’t be able to compete at Nationals. Championship is for Junior, U23 and Elite riders.
When does my membership start and end?
Every membership runs for the calendar year, 1 January to 31 December, whenever you join. Joining from July means a lower price, because the club portion is halved.
How do I renew for next year?
Existing members are emailed a personal link when renewals open, so keep an eye on your inbox (and your spam folder). If you have not received yours, get in touch through our Contact Us page and we will sort it out.
Do I have to join before I try BMX?
No. Come to a Have-a-Go first. It is free, and the gear is loaned. See our Get Started page for how to book.
Why is there a card fee?
The 2.61% card transaction fee is applied at checkout by the BMX NZ registration system. Neither we nor you can avoid it, but it is the same for every licence.
